Thirteen-year-old Erik of Bellevue, who longs to have superhero powers, will be transformed into his very own comic book character on World Wish Day, Thursday, April 29. Living with kidney cancer, Erik will put his worries aside for one afternoon when, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Seattle Sounders, Puget Sound Energy and the Space Needle, he becomes Electron Boy. Western Washingtons only hope against the dark forces of Dr. Dark and Blackout Boy (played by the Discovery Channels Deadliest Catchs Edgar Hansen and Jake Anderson). This video will be played at PSE Headquarters in Bellevue after he saves Energy Jim in the bucket truck. The message indicates that he needs to travel to the Space Needle where he will challenge the villains and save the city from darkness.  |

My Mother had surgery yesterday to remove a mass from her right breast. Surgery went well. Testing to make sure it isn’t cancer(ish).  |

Because pears contain a good amount of fiber, which prevents constipation, but also Fiber is instrumental in sweeping out cancer causing chemical in the colon. Copper deficiency is associated with colon cancer. Pears are a great fruit to support colon health as they are good source of copper. Copper is also an important mineral that fights off free radical damage that harms our cells. There are so many varieties of pears that youll find pears year round. But the Peak season for Pears is between August and October. When you shop for pears, youll notice that they are hard and thats because they are picked early because they perish quickly. So youll have to allow them to ripen 3-4 days at home. You dont want the pears to bee too soft, but just give slightly to pressure. Avoid overly soft and brown pears. If you purchase soft pears, then refrigerate them until ready to eat. Buy pears organic because they are among the top 12 foods that have the most amount of pesticide residue and because you want to eat the skin for the dietary fiber. You can slice pears and toss into a green salad with blue cheese and red onion. Try adding diced pears to chicken salad. Or simply eat them as is. This is a very convenient tasty take along snack.
