 Madrid, Spain: Compounds in marijuana inhibit malignant brain tumor growth in animals, and may provide a potential therapy for human glioma patients, according to a clinical review appearing in the September issue of Neuropharmacology. “Current therapeutic strategies for the treatment of [gliomas] are usually ineffective or just palliative,” researchers from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Madrid’s Complutense University wrote. “During the last few years, several studies have shown that cannabinoids … slow the growth of different types of tumours, including gliomas, in laboratory animals. Cannabinoids induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) of glioma cells [in vitro.] In addition, cannabinoid treatment inhibits angiogenesis (growth) of gliomas in vivo. Remarkably, cannabinoids kill glioma cells selectively and can protect non-transformed glial cells from death. These and other findings reviewed here might set the basis for a potential use of cannabinoids in the management of gliomas.” Last year, a clinical review in the journal Nature Reviews Cancer made similar recommendations, noting that cannabinoids possess a “favorable drug safety profile” and have shown in clinical trials to inhibit various forms of cancerous tumors, including gliomas, lung carcinoma, breast cancer, skin cancer, thyroid cancer, lymphoma, and prostate cancer. This song is by ex-Cold Chisel guitarist / vocalist Ian Moss and it is called “All Alone On a Rock”. This song is the eleventh track on Ian’s 1996 album Petrolhead. This song was written by Ian’s old Cold Chisel bandmate Don Walker who played keyboard in Cold Chisel. This song was performed by: Ian Moss – Guitars & Vocals Ian Rilen – Bass Guitar Paul DeMarco – Drums Ian Riled and Paul DeMarco have both played for Rose Tattoo in the past (aswell as many other bands). Ian Rilen went on to form his own band called “Ian Rilen and the Love Addicts” before he tragically died in 2006 after losing a battle with bladder cancer. Paul DeMarco continues to play with Rose Tattoo and Ian Moss has continued with his solo work.  |

Alicia Alice Pearce (October 16, 1917 March 3, 1966) was an American actress. Brought to Hollywood by Gene Kelly to reprise her Broadway performance in the film version of On the Town (1949), Pearce played comedic supporting roles in several films, before being cast as Gladys Kravitz in Bewitched in 1964. She won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series posthumously after the second season of the series. She died from ovarian cancer in 1966. George Tobias (July 14, 1901 February 27, 1980) was an American character actor. Born to a Jewish family in New York, he began his acting career at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California. He then spent several years in theater groups before moving on to Broadway and, eventually, Hollywood. In 1939, Tobias signed with Warner Brothers, where he played in supporting roles, many times along with James Cagney, in such movies as Cagney’s Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) as well as with Gary Cooper in Sergeant York (1941). Tobias later achieved fame in the 1960s by playing long-suffering neighbor Abner Kravitz on the TV sitcom Bewitched. George Tobias never married and retired from acting in 1977 after a guest role in the Bewitched sequel Tabitha. On February 27, 1980, Tobias died of bladder cancer at the age of 78 in Los Angeles, California.
