Paul Williams, 66, of Waterfordworks, New Jersey, developed Sinus node dysfunction (SND). In most patients, treatment of this heart condition requires a medical device, which uses electrical impulses to regulate the beating of his heart. Mr. Williams, however, is also a thyroid cancer survivor and his physicians recommend regular MRI scans to monitor any possible cancer recurrence. MRI procedures for patients with traditional, implanted pacemakers are not recommended because these patients might face serious complications, such as interference with pacemaker operation, damage to system components, lead or pacemaker dislodgement. But, those complications are not an issue for Paul, as he was recently the first patient in the region to receive the Revo MRI™ SureScan® pacing system. This is the first MR-Conditional pacing system designed, tested and FDA approved for use in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) environment. Watch as Paul and his doctors discuss the benefits of his new pacemaker on the day of his surgery.

Breast cancer surgeon Dr. Kristi Funk performs a live breast cyst aspiration and explains what breast cysts are, whether they are dangerous, and how they are removed.
Have you seen the original Pink Glove Dance video? Over 11 million people across the globe have. As a way to extend Medline’s breast cancer awareness campaign, they developed a pink glove called Generation Pink™. Gloves are also the first point of contact between the healthcare worker and the patient. And, the fact the glove is pink, Medline hoped would get people talking about breast cancer. When the gloves were launched in October, Medline committed to donating of every case purchased to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to fund mammograms for individuals who cannot afford them. Central Florida Institute trains students for a career in the medical and dental industry. Many of our students as well their friends and families have in some way been impacted by breast cancer. CFI wanted to carry on Medline’s effort to spread awareness about treating and preventing breast cancer.
